JAS’s efforts have touched the lives of female sex workers, MSMs, youth, adolescents, women and children across 16 districts in Rajasthan. Collaborating with organisations like Nehru Yuva Kendra and international entities such as UNICEF, Save the Children, UNFPA, and UN Women, JAS continues to make meaningful strides toward community welfare and empowerment.

Leadership in Targeted Interventions:

JAS executed interventions addressing HIV/AIDS among 1,000 female sex workers and 550 MSMs in the tribal districts of Banswara and Dungarpur. This initiative significantly increased awareness, promoted safe practices, and reduced the stigma associated with HIV.

Campaign Against Child Marriages:

In 2017, JAS led Saajha Abhiyan, a state-wide campaign preventing child marriages in Rajasthan, particularly in Bundi and Jaipur districts. Conducted under the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, the campaign reached 3000 individuals across 300 villages, resulting in a remarkable decline in child marriage rates from 65% to 35%.

Empowering Adolescents and Youth:

In collaboration with UNFPA and the Department of Women Empowerment, JAS trained 2000 adolescent girls from Jaipur's slums as peer educators. This initiative cascaded to sensitize an additional 12,000 girls, establishing the trained individuals as role models within their communities.

Health Camps and Medical Interventions:

During the organization of health camps in Jaipur's slums, JAS identified children's health profiles and facilitated investigations and treatments. Through fundraising efforts, JAS secured treatment for a 7-year-old girl with a heart condition and another child with anorectal malformation, both from economically disadvantaged backgrounds.

Research and Awareness Programs:

In 2018-19, as the leader for Childhood Infection and Pollution (CHIP), a multi-country research program by University College London, JAS conducted initial field research in Jaipur. Additionally, JAS led the MUSKAN program, supported by Action Aid, raising awareness about child sexual abuse among 1800 children in 24 slum areas of Jaipur.

Naubat Baja Project:

Active participation in the Naubat Baja Project was witnessed across seven districts. The project focused on adolescent empowerment and ending child marriage. Achievements include capacity building for 661 Sathins, training 531 youth volunteers, addressing 503 Panchayats, and placing Naubat Baja logos in 650 rural locations.

Naubat Baja not only provided entertainment but also amplified the voices and stories of individuals who had overcome challenges. Volunteers filled with courage discussed rights and social issues openly, with stories of two volunteers, Ragini and Shreya, stopping child marriages in their locality.

Impact on Society:

The tangible impacts of JAS work are evident in the positive outcomes achieved in various geographical areas. In Dungarpur, there is increased awareness about HIV prevention, leading to safer practices. The state's overall child marriage rate has significantly dropped from 65% to 35%, thanks to the Saajha Abhiyan campaign. The Muskan project has enhanced awareness among children about child sexual abuse, and the Naubat Baja program has sensitized over 205,000 youths and adolescents, developing leadership skills and awareness of government schemes.

Slum Intervention Program:

JAS worked in three major slums of Jaipur, trained volunteers and adolescents, and oriented community leaders, reaching approximately 2.78 lakh people in rural and urban areas. JAS received 200 letters from various government departments, raised visibility through newspaper advertisements, media coverage, and graffiti, sensitizing approximately 6-7 lakh people on Naubat Baja and social issues.

  • Letters received from various government departments, police, ICDS, social welfare, education, and more.
  • Newspaper advertisements, media coverage, and graffiti reached approximately 40 lakh readers, introducing them to the Naubat Baja-missed call wala Radio Project.
  • Slum Intervention Program in Jaipur's Slums focused on empowering adolescents, young people, and women, engaging 471 adolescents and orienting community leaders and youth on social issues.
  • Approximately 2.78 lakh people in rural and urban areas were oriented on Naubat Baja and DWE, Govt. of Rajasthan Schemes in 9 districts through 11 Communication Vehicle Campaigns.
  • Recognition and honours received from various forums, including being nominated as a member of the Block Task Force for Beti Bachao Beti Padhao program of Govt. of India and a member of District Level Advisory/Mentor Group for women victims of domestic violence.

The achievements and impacts outlined above underscore the continuous efforts and positive changes made in the lives of individuals and communities. The dedication and collaboration with various organizations contribute to ongoing strides in community welfare and empowerment.

During the process, JAS has organized a series of workshops and training programs, contributing significantly to community engagement and empowerment. The events were categorized into district level workshops, involving NVKS/NSS/NYVs, Workshops with Sathins and Prachetas;workshops with key stakeholders (NSS Officers, Volunteers, CBOs, NGO, medical professionals), and state level workshops.
