Our Work

Health

Jeevan Ashram Sanstha has focused its work on public health and works extensively on the dual issues of empowering people to use available facilities and strengthening the public health care system so that it is accessible and affordable to the poor. Health can not only cause premature mortality, partial or complete immobility, and physical discomfort, but can also be an economic drain to individuals, family members, and friends who tend to the diseased person. The cumulative effect of high levels of premature mortality and morbidity negatively impacts the overall productivity of a nation. Due to lack of nutritious food, unhygienic conditions, and lack of existing infrastructure, the rural poor are especially in need of health care service. In addition, women, children and adolescents are particularly susceptible to illness and have specific health needs. The failure of top down government efforts and the work of international bodies has led to emergence of a people centred health initiative. Jeevan Ashram Sanstha work in health is focused on putting pressure on decision makers, government and private sector to improve health services, as well as on increasing awareness among rural communities about the cause of disease and disease prevention, and promotion of health lifestyles.

Education

Education is fundamental for achieving full human potential, developing an equitable and just society, and promoting national development. Jeevan Ashram Sanstha believed every child, no matter who they are or where they come from, deserves access to quality learning opportunities – from the age of three years when they begin to acquire early learning skills to the end of their school education at age 18. Jeevan Ashram Santha addresses children’s learning needs by creating an inclusive, equitable, and safe learning environment for children between 3-18 years, supported by donations for child education, for an active, purposeful adult life. For individuals, education promotes employment, earnings, health, and poverty reduction. For societies, it drives long-term economic growth, spurs innovation, strengthens institutions, and fosters social cohesion. Education is further a powerful catalyst to climate action through widespread behaviour change and skilling for green transitions.

Livelihood

Skills for Empowerment, Employability and Changing Gender Roles Jeevan Ashram Sanstha recognises the significance of enhancing the value of women and girls, which is why, the coalition invests in and supports Non-Traditional Livelihoods (NTL) for women and girls across the country. We have been promoting non-traditional livelihood in a belief that one of the fundamental pillars of patriarchy is gender-based roles and occupations that need to be challenged. With this, we aim to achieve our long-term goal, which is to address son preference and daughter unwontedness.
